Momma Mia!!

I made a $119 investment about a month ago and I’ve been itching to do a post about it ever since.

I decided I would give it a month so I could really see results and give an honest review.

I am here to tell you that that Clarisonic Mia is one of the best investments I’ve ever made for my every day beauty ritual…yes, this includes Crest Whitening strips, which we all know were a God-send.

The Clarisonic Mia is the smaller/travel-size version of the Sonic Care skin cleansing invention, the Clarisonic.

If you haven’t heard about the Clarisonic, it’s basically a facial skin care cleansing vibrating contraptions that cleanses your skin and at the same time exfoliates. I don’t really know any other way to describe it so here is the information the Sonic Cleansing Research has provided:

“While cleansing is the first step in any skin care ritual, it is often overlooked.  Typical manual cleansing can leave behind dirt and oil trapped in pores. This build-up can damage the appearance and health of your skin and keep your skin care products from working like they should.

Used and recommended by spas and dermatologists, Clarisonic Sonic Skin Cleansing Systems use a patented sonic frequency of more than 300 movements per second to gently, yet thoroughly remove 6X more makeup and 2X more dirt and oil than cleansing with your hands alone. Cleaner skin is the first step toward healthier skin. And healthier skin is smoother, more radiant and more beautiful.”

Research has shown that Clarisonic Cleansing:

  • Removes 6X more makeup than manual cleansing.
  • Leads to 61% greater absorption of Vitamin C when compared to manual cleansing.
  • Helps improve the appearance of skin tone, texture, elasticity and firmness in mature skin.
  • Makes skin look and feel softer, smoother and healthier.
  • Is safe and gentle enough to use twice a day.

My face has never felt so clean and smooth, and has never seemed so bright. I had dry patches and mild acne around my mouth and chin and under my chin. Within a week I noticed a difference in my acne and texture of my skin.

And, no, I’m not getting paid to say this. I was a skeptic and I have never bought into paying ridiculous amounts of cash for a beauty product. Anyone who knows me knows that I spend ridiculous amounts of time contemplating an “extravagant” purchase and I don’t commit unless I’ve done my research and feel it’s something I really need.

There are 4 different Clarisonic Cleansing system models: Mia, Mia 2, Classic, and Plus.

As I said before, I went for the Mia. It’s the most compact and, quite frankly, the cheapest. I was still a skeptic when I bit the bullet and made the purchase so I wasn’t willing to spend more. I bought mine from Nordstrom for $119. I think this is the general price anywhere but they were offering free shipping so….

Anyway, I haven’t tried any of the other models but I believe they offer more than 1-speed. The Mia only has 1, but after using it for only a month I have seen such a difference I don’t know why you would need anything else. I don’t know about any of the others but the Mia has a timed cycle of 60-seconds.

It’s completely waterproof, cordless, and lightweight. The charging system is amazing. You plug in the charger and it connects with a magnet, so no spaces where water might get in and ruin it. The Mia doesn’t come with a stand, but it does have a cap for the brush which can be used to prop on the counter while not in use. I place mine on a soap dish so the excess water and run out.

I use mine twice a day. Once in the morning, in the shower, with my Eminence coconut milk cleanser. At night I use two rounds of the 60-second timer. Once with my coconut milk cleanser to easily take off makeup and then once more with my acne cleanser. It’s true what the research says, it feels like my acne cleanser works better after I have done one round to eliminate makeup first. After I’m finished I apply my moisturizer, which is supposed to have a cooling effect to it. I didn’t notice the cooling effect as much before but now that I use the Clarisonic I can tell that my moisturizer is working the way it’s supposed to. It absorbs and doesn’t feel like it’s just sitting on top of flaky skin. I wake up in the morning with no new pimples or blemishes and, if I had a blemish the night before, it’s already healed and the scab is flaking way (sorry to be gross).

The Mia is easy to use and comes with simple instructions so you can figure out what works best for you. It also comes in like 17 fun colors. I went for the lavender!

I hope this helps any of you skeptics to decide whether or not to take the plunge. I wish I had taken before and after pictures of my skin but I didn’t think about it until it was too late.

Good night and good luck!
